Living in Singapore is a hot and humid experience. Sweat sticks to the skin, and our body temperature fails to regulate itself. Escape from the humidity in air-conditioned buildings, the kind that provides orderly comfort to this city. Humid, Forever ruminates on the invisible sense of home the weather provides. But only by ceding control to randomness, do these photographic cyanotypes see life. Handprinted onto naturally dyed handkerchiefs made with avocado food waste, the results are an alchemy of UV rays, alchemy, and a photographic interpretation of home.

Calvin Chow is a Singaporean artist and photographer with an interest in the relentlessness of things, time, space, and everything in between. Having lived across a nature reserve in Singapore his entire life, Calvin’s work traces nature and humanity through the photographic lens. In recent years Calvin has focused his eye on the most pressing issue facing Southeast Asia, telling the story of water in the changing climate.
