Knuckles & Notch (2023)
“LUAR BIASA GOKIL” is an original artwork created by Knuckles & Notch as a creative response to Irama Nusantara x Binatang Press x Norrm’s publication, “Dari Ngak Ngik Ngok ke Dheg Dheg Plas.” It pays homage to the rebellious spirit of Indonesian youth during the 1960s–1970s, a period when political and social discourses were central to Indonesia’s art & music scene. Through this visual response, we want to further acknowledge the significance of the 60s-70s creative scene as part of Indonesian history; how the art & music from that scene are often used and co-opted without proper credit; and how they continue to inform and influence the creative & music scene within the region and in other parts of the world.
